How to take charge of your life

Often times i wonder where my life is going. I try to think every step on how it will go and how to make plans according to that. As you already know not all plans happen as they way you want them to.

There is a lot of teachers and coaches now to help you to figure out what you want to do with your life. Though they might be able to help you, if you don’t put in the work yourself you will not gain anything from them. As i am on this journey of self development, i have been learning from some of the great speakers and coaches.

Below are links to YouTube videos of Jim Rhon and Tony Robbins. The YouTube accounts below are not mine I am just sharing their content.

Why you should stop focusing on perfection and be ready to fail

What is it that you’ve always wanted to do but think you are not good enough? Goals and dreams is all we’ve been taught to have since we were young. What if we forgot about them and just do things that we want right now.

There’s pressure all around us of doing perfect work, take perfect pictures, perfect post. Everything that we put out we end up not enjoying because we want it to be perfect than have substance.

You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great.

-DENZEL WASHINGTON

Recently my best friend and I started a podcast,Unscripted of course we recorded as a playful thing doing around the house. We’ve always spoke about recording podcasts and publishing, we’ve always had really informative conversations among ourselves at home and thought of sharing. Mind you we are not professional speakers but we recorded as a trial run to see how we sound and just dabble basically. We put it off after recording probably over a month and one day I decided in the middle of the night to publish the work that we definitely knew was not perfect. The feedback was great and of course most of the feedback was positive criticism helping us to do better on our next podcast. But what was amazing is that some people told us they were inspired to go ahead and start their own podcast since they’ve always wanted to. With the terrible work that we put out in terms of content direction someone got the courage that I can’t do worse than this lemme go for it too. So my friend I am telling you right now, do as bad of a job as possible and have fun. DO NOT PRESSURE YOURSELF, just start and from the’re you’ll learn and get better. Don’t aim for perfection, aim for first step.

Ready to fail

Failing seems like a sin that should never happen to us and yet we still do fail. We are caught up in this state of mind of doing great and perfect work that we forget ourselves.

I am guilty of this, when I start a new venture I want to do well so bad that I end up not doing it or giving up halfway. Because my mind was already set on good results than it could fail.

Imagine if we all were ready to fail on any adventure we are getting into, knowing that if anything it can’t get any worse because that is what you’re ready for.

Conclusion

Yes, dream but remember to not lose yourself in the process. Be ready to fail and pick yourself up to fail again until you don’t. I recommend you read  Chasing Failure by Ryan Leak where he discuss and elaborates how falling short sets you up for success. I didn’t really get it at first when i saw the title but after reading it made sense.
